After learning that she suffers from PCOS, the couple decided to try IVF. Murgatroyd kept supporters updated on social media frequently via Instagram Stories, but her initial transfer was unsuccessful. She became pregnant a few months later, around the start of Dancing With the Stars season 31. Originally, she had one objective for the season, to take home the Mirrorball Trophy. Unfortunately, very early in the season, she started feeling sick.
“We’ve done this four times before. We’ve been here four times before and it just wouldn’t last,” Chmerkovskiy said. “So we’re on pins and needles, whether it’s because of the past trauma of this process.”
The couple have struggled for two years with three miscarriages and a failed embryo transfer. Shortly after the news broke, Chmerkovskiy stated that the second pregnancy was less about being “cute,” and more about having a calm approach.
Peta Murgatroyd Initially Had No Idea That She Was Expecting
Murgatroyd revealed that she didn’t even know she was pregnant until she felt nauseous while performing on the show. So, in the long run, It may have been better that her and Jason Lewis were the first ones to go home. The ongoing pregnancy would have made it impossible for her to perform at her best, or she may have even dropped out sooner or later.
“I didn’t even know I was pregnant for so long until I was really feeling sick. I danced through DWTS with it,” Murgatroyd said. “I started feeling weird, started feeling a little bit sick and a little bloated and I didn’t want to test for weeks. I think it was the fastest positive I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Her pregnancy was in the early stages during the show‘s premiere, which was hard to identify at the time. Murgatroyd was about to undergo a second round of in vitro fertilization when she learned she was pregnant.
