Paramore Cancels Performance After Deleting Social Media Posts

Paramore With Jimmy Kimmel on The Jimmy Kimmel Show

Fans of Paramore are worried about the band after they deleted all posts on their social media and canceled a scheduled performance. However, sources have said the band is not breaking up.

Paramore Deletes Social Media, Cancels Performance

All posts on Paramore’s Instagram and Twitter accounts have been deleted, and the band’s website now leads to a “404 Not Found” message. The group didn’t immediately offer an explanation for the change, leading some fans to worry about a breakup.

It didn’t help that on Thursday, a message appeared on Paramore’s Instagram stories saying they had to cancel their upcoming appearance at the iHeartRadio ALTer EGO Fest on January 13 in Anaheim, due to “unforeseen circumstances.” According to Billboard, Fall Out Boy will perform in their place.

On Friday, sources told Variety that the social media deletion is due to the group becoming free agents after their 20-year deal with Atlantic Records ended. The performance cancellation was apparently unrelated and due to a genuine scheduling conflict.

The Band Is Going on Tour with Taylor Swift

The band has a big year ahead of them. In May, they’ll join Taylor Swift as she brings her Eras Tour to Europe. Paramore will perform as an opening act on the tour through August, when Gracie Abrams will join Swift on her final North American tour dates.

The band also has festival dates lined up in Central and South American in March. Amid confusion from fans about the social media wipe, some speculated that Maisie Peters could be replacing the band on the Eras Tour. However, Peters has denied the rumors.

Paramore released their most recent album, This Is Why, last February. It’s the band’s sixth studio album, having made their debut in 2005 with All We Know Is Falling. Paramore is fronted by lead vocalist Hayley Williams.
