Olly Murs Says His Friendship With Simon Cowell Ended When He Left ‘The X Factor’ For ‘The Voice UK’

Olly had spoken before about how Simon had acted like a mentor to the young singer. But that all came to a close when Olly decided to jump ship and move to The Voice UK. He hasn’t heard from his old friend since.

Needless to say, Olly isn’t exactly happy about this turn of events. In fact, he seems pretty hurt by the whole thing. He said of whether Simon wished him luck,
“I’m just going to say no and no. None of that happened. You make your own decisions in life and ever since I left the X Factor, I’ve always made my own decisions. As much as Simon and other people have been there to mentor me throughout my career, when The Voice came calling, I was like: ‘Yeah, I want to do this.’ I haven’t heard from Simon I’ve only read what you guys like to write so like I said before, Simon knows where I am, he’s got my telephone number, he knows how to reach me if he wants a chat but he probably won’t so…but he’s going to watch the show and be like, hello, and he ain’t going to be happy.”
Yikes. It’s sad when a friendship ends but I can’t say as I’m surprised. Simon looks like the type of guy who holds a grudge forever and these shows are like his kids.
