Nurse Quits After being Sent To An Active Coronavirus Testing Floor
Nurse, Melissa Scott is now an online sensation after recording a heartbreaking video of her quitting her job. This came after her boss had instructed her to go to an active Coronavirus testing floor. Here’s what the nurse had to say:
“I just quit my job. I clocked in. I find out that I’m being sent to a Corona floor when they know that I have kids at home, who I can’t send away, to you know, get away from me. My managers sent me to a floor that is being tested for Corona. She knows my health history. She knows all of this. I quit. I care about the patients and all but my family and my life, they matter. They come first. She knows my health history. I told her that my kids don’t have anybody to go to. I can’t send my kids away like everybody else. I’m done. I’m leaving.”

Scott made it clear in the video that has suffered from health issues. Melissa is a triple-negative breast cancer survivor and was diagnosed in 2012 at age 31. She also says that she cannot send her kids away and has no one to turn to in case she has to self isolate due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Online Community Backs Melissa And Raise An Important Issue Surrounding Personal Protection
How did the online community respond to Melissa’s story? Most have responded with nothing but compassion. Melissa has received thousands of heartwarming messages across the many different platforms that the video has been shared on.
“5 kids? A 3-time breast cancer survivor? Yeah, I’d quit too. I just seen on the news in California a cancer survivor died from COVID-19, many times a treatment to cancer is removing lymph nodes which severely compromises your immune system. I’m sure the people judging her have nothing to lose, so they wouldn’t understand!”, says one user.

Others have sat on the fence, claiming that she was employed to be a nurse and should be ready for occurrences like this. “If you have THAT severe of a health history why are you a damn nurse!!! There’s more afflicting diseases than Corona! Kudos to the nurses and doctors who actually did their job and went to the floor.”, says one user.
Many users have turned to Melissa’s Instagram page to uncover more information about her story. “… he couldn’t watch the kids.”, replies one user to a photo of the nurse and her supposed partner. This raises the question as to how truthful the nurse has been about the kids having ‘no one’ to turn to.
