Nikki Garcia and her estranged husband Artem Chigvintsev have reportedly been granted restraining orders against each other, following Chigvintsev’s arrest for domestic violence and Garcia subsequently filing for divorce.
Nikki Garcia, Artem Chigvintsev Granted Restraining Orders
Earlier this month, it was reported that Garcia had requested a restraining order against Chigvintsev. According to her sworn declaration, Garcia claims Chigvintsev tackled her and pinned her to the ground during the incident which led to his arrest in August.
According to Page Six, both Garcia and Chigvintsev have been granted restraining orders against each other. According to Chigvintsev’s lawyer, Ilona Antonyan, Chigvintsev “contacted law enforcement” the morning of his arrest “seeking protection from his wife’s persistent aggression.”
Chigvintsev provided photos of alleged scratches on his elbow and hands, which he says are from Garcia. Ahead of his arrest, Chigvintsev reportedly called 911 but later took back the request. Police were still required to make a visit, at which point the dancer was arrested for domestic violence. The charges against him have since been dropped.

Garcia Filed for Divorce from Chigvintsev Last Month
In September, less than two weeks after Chigvintsev’s arrest, Garcia filed for divorce. The couple, who first met in 2017 when they competed together on Dancing with the Stars Season 25, tied the knot in 2022. They share a 4-year-old son named Matteo.
Chigvintsev has filed for joint custody of Matteo, and he has also requested spousal support from Garcia. According to Garcia’s restraining order against him, People reports that he is prohibited from contacting her or coming within 100 feet of her or Matteo.
However, Chigvintsev has been granted visitation, and the couple is able to exchange Matteo for court-ordered visits. The dancer said of his son in a statement, “I am committed to continuing to provide him with the love, support, and care he needs as we move forward.”
