Legendary singer Tina Turner, known as the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” has sadly passed away at the age of 83, TMZ confirmed on Wednesday. Turner’s representatives released a statement on social media announcing the singer’s death.

Turner’s official Facebook page posted the news of her death on Wednesday, alongside a black and white photo of the singer. The post inspired an outpouring of sadness and love from the singer’s fans in the comments.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner,” reads the post. “With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”
The social media announcement does not reveal Turner’s cause of death. However, Entertainment Tonight reports that the singer died peacefully on Wednesday in her home near Zurich, Switzerland, after a long battle with illness.

Turner Was an Icon in the Music Industry
Turner was born in 1939 as Anna Mae Bullock and grew up in Nutbush, Tennessee. In the ’60s an ’70s, and she her husband Ike Turner performed as a duo. The couple divorced in 1978, and Turner later revealed that she was a victim of domestic abuse.
The singer went on to launch a successful solo career in the 1980s, releasing songs such as “What’s Love Go to Do with It,” “Better Be Good to Me,” and “The Best.” Over the course of her career in music, Turner won eight Grammys.
In 2019, a jukebox musical inspired by her life called Tina: The Tina Turner Musical debuted on Broadway. In 2021, a documentary called Tina was released by HBO.
