Miley Cyrus Makes iTunes History With 2020 Album ‘Plastic Hearts’
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Miley Cyrus has officially become the first female artist to have every track hit No. 1 on iTunes charts around the world. This accomplishment has a lot behind it, so let’s break down what this really means.
What Does Miley Cyrus’s Accomplishment Actually Mean?
On January 9, Cyrus shared an image to Instagram. The image states that her album Plastic Hearts is accomplished in each country around the world. Plastic Hearts was released on November 27, 2020. This album features hits like “Midnight Sky,” “Prisoner,” and “Angels like You.” This album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and continues to do well on iTunes.
What this means is each song from this album has hit No. 1 on the iTunes chart, in different countries worldwide. For example, while “Midnight Sky” may have hit No. 1 in America, “Prisoner” may have hit No. 1 in Canada. But overall, each track from this album has hit No. 1 on the iTunes chart in at least one country.
Cyrus hit this goal on January 8 when her song “High” hit No. 1 on the iTunes Peru chart. Fans had been eager to get the accomplishment for their favorite singer. The singer shared the accomplishment on Instagram, making sure to thank her fans.
“Thank you. I love my smilers,” Cyrus wrote.
On top of this accomplishment, the album itself is receiving awards of its own. Plastic Hearts has been certified gold in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Norway and Poland. This album has also been certified platinum in Brazil. Plastic Hearts was Cyrus’ last release with her old record company, RCA. This album was different from her previous releases because it was mostly based in the genres of rock and pop. Popular guests on this album are Dua Lipa, Billy Idol. Stevie Nicks and Joan Jett.
It’s no secret that the world loves Cyrus, so this accomplishment doesn’t really surprise me. This accomplishment was earned soon after the recent popularity of her New Year’s Eve special located in Miami, Florida, broadcast by NBC. Cyrus fans are dying for new music, so I’m sure she’ll reach this goal again in the near future.
