Miley Cyrus Breaks Adele’s Spotify Record with ‘Flowers’
The Guinness World Records shared that “Flowers” had 96,032,624 streams for the week ending on January 19, 2023. The record was previously held by Adele’s song “Easy on Me.” Cyrus reportedly got over 7 million more streams.
“Flowers” also had the fourth-highest number of Spotify streams for a track in 24 hours, with 17.4 million on January 19. The song gained listeners throughout the week, after debuting at No. 3 on Spotify’s “Daily Top Songs Global” chart on January 13.
Spotify shared the news that Cyrus had broken the single-week streaming record on Twitter. Cyrus retweeted the post, adding, “Thank you so much @Spotify and my amazing fans.”
Guinness World Records shared that Cyrus also holds the record for most charted teenager in the United States, with 29 chart entries by November 2009. She also holds the record for highest annual earnings for a child actor, making an estimated $25 million in 2008.
Cyrus Is Releasing an Album This March
Earlier this month, Cyrus shared the news that she’s releasing her eighth studio album, titled Endless Summer Vacation, on March 10. This will be the singer’s first new album since the 2020 release Plastic Hearts, not including her 2022 live album.
Fans think that Cyrus’s new single “Flowers” is about her split from ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. In addition to being released on his birthday, the song also seems to reference the house they lost in the Woolsey Fire in 2018.
We can’t wait to hear what else Cyrus has up her sleeve as she prepares for the release of her new album.
