America’s Got Talent fans have officially gotten their first glimpse at the brand new Judge Callbacks round. This week’s early release features country duo Madelyn Tallent and Malachi Martin performing again for Mel B.
Madelyn Tallent & Malachi Martin Risk it All in Callbacks
On Friday, July 31, America’s Got Talent shared a Callback Round performance early for super fans. This performance includes country duo, Madelyn Tallent and Malachi Martin. The early release begins with Mel B commenting on the pairs audition, saying there were a few comments on their past performance.
This time around, the pair chose to perform a song that begins slow, then gets quicker as it goes on. Mel B didn’t seem to love their song choice, but the pair prepared another, just in case.
Once their Callback Round performance began, they sang their original song choice of “Shut Up and Dance” by WALK THE MOON. They were able to put their own spin on the song with the inclusion of the bango, as well as country twang.
Once the song was over, fans can see the duo heading backstage once again. Additionally, Mel B states that the song choice was a “huge risk” for them. She then goes on to compliment Madelyn’s voice, saying she wishes she’d push out the Dolly Parton in her voice more.
What Did Judges Think of Their Audition?
The country duo first took the America’s Got Talentstage earlier this season. Ahead of their performance they explained that they’re just friends and have been performing together for only 6 months.
For their audition, they sang “Counting Stars” by Onerepublic. They made this song their own by adding a country spin to it featuring the banjo, as well as a Madelyn’s country twang voice.
After the performance, judges were a bit divided on their response. Simon Cowell was a fair of the group, saying they were “so authentic” and “real,” he also complimented the duo’s chemistry and song choice. Howie Mandel disagreed with Cowell, saying that they didn’t seem ready because their time performing together is still “so new.”
Sofia Vergara was on Cowell’s side, agreeing that sometimes you meet another person who has the same desire and have to speed up the process. Mel B agreed with Mandel, but also understood Cowell’s points. The duo earned three yeses sending them into the Judge Callback Round.
Be sure to tune into the next episode of America’s Got Talent on Tuesday, August 4 so you don’t miss a minute of the competition. AGT is live on NBC at 8PM ET on cable, with next day viewing on Hulu.
