Meghan Trainor to Co-Host ‘Top Chef Family Style’ for Peacock

Reading Time: 3 minutes
Meghan Trainor is cooking up a new project, literally. The “All About That Bass” singer will serve as the co-host and judge for Top Chef Family Style on Peacock. She will stand alongside Top Chef vet Marcus Samuelsson. So what makes Trainor qualified to co-host a culinary series? Well, the actor who played Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett) in Mean Girls was the host on Cake Wars, so I think anything is possible. The show premieres September 9.
Trainor is on her way to becoming a certified competition show veteran. The singer has been a judge on The Four, The Voice UK, a mentor on Songland, and will judge Clash of the Cover Bands this fall.
Meghan Trainor on Peacock and NBCUniversal Television
Top Chef Family Style is part of Trainor’s overall deal with the Peacock streaming service and NBCUniversal Television. The contract also includes a comedy series that is currently in development.
Described as a “family culinary competition,” Top Chef Family Style features exceptionally talented young chefs. Here, each contestant will team up with an adult family member to compete for the chance to be crowned champions. Serving as head judge is award winning chef James Beard. Cookbook author Samuelsson will also take a seat on the panel. Finally, Trainor is worked into the mix alongside a variety of surprising guest judges.
Top Chef Family Style Concept
In Top Chef Family Style, 15 culinary prodigies from across the nation will compete for the title. Hailing from states including Alaska, New York and Hawaii, the talented young chefs will “sharpen their knives” and battle it out to prove their culinary abilities. Along the way, the chefs will participate in unique challenges for the chance to win exciting prizes.
They include a $10,000 prize provided by Hellman’s and another $10,000 sponsored by State Farm. Challenge winners can also earn tickets to NFL Sunday Night Football, WWE’s Wrestlemania, and a trip to Universal Orlando’s three amazing theme parks. Plus, a visit to their FOOD & WINE Test Kitchen. At the end of the epic journey, only one chef duo will be crowned the winner of Top Chef Family Style along with the grand prize including $50,000.
“From mastering molecular gastronomy for the cast of Peacock’s Saved by the Bell to cooking in a culinary smackdown for WWE Superstars and creating a meatless menu for an NFL tailgate with the LA Rams, the chef duos are put to the test in a series of creative and suspenseful Quickfire and Elimination Challenges,” according to a news release.
Actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson is confirmed as a guest judge to challenge the chefs to make a luxury dish using ingredients like truffles, caviar, and sea urchin. Viral sensation Jojo Siwa will also be present to judge a sweet dessert spectacle.
Catch Top Chef Family Style streaming on Peacock. The show premieres September 9, with episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays.
