American Song Contest fans were shocked to see 17 year old Ada LeAnn take home the final jury vote. The Michigan native singer took the stage singing her powerful tune “Natalie.” Here’s everything to know about this young singer.
Ada LeAnn is singer/songwriter that was currently lives in her hometown of Battle Creek, Michigan. She creates emotional lyrics filled with theme of relationships. In the present day, she has released two EP’s and several songs covers.
She is currently an independent artist that works alongside Nashville, Tennessee based producer/singer songwriter Carter Frodge. Before American Song Contest, this singer had only appeared in non televised competitions. At this time she has an average of 2,000 subscribers and followers on YouTube and TikTok.
Ada won her first competition in 2018 in the Battle Creek caroling at the Creek. In the next year she won first place in Delton Idol Competition and Battle Of the Bands. 2019 was the year that began it all for Ada. On November 28, 2019 she released her first digital single, “Hallelujah.”
On April 22, 2020, Ada debuted her first original song “What Heaven Feels Like.” She currently has over 25,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. It’s clear that Ada is a true gem in this competition since she is such a strong performer that had yet to break into mainstream music.
American Song Contest Fans Compare Ada’s Style to Young Taylor Swift
Ahead of Ada’s live performance, she stated that her song “Natalie” strives to sound like songs by both Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo. That description led fans to expect a strong voice and stage presence. While both of those characteristics were present, Ada was compared to a much larger artist, Taylor Swift.
“Ada LeAnn gave me such Taylor Swift vibes, she sang this song with such intent, you know she was mad at whoever Natalie is. Natalie, you in danger girl,” a fan Tweeted.
Many compared the her vocals and stage presence to Swift following the live performance. The style similarity is extremely apparent when you compare the live performance “Natalie” to a live performance of “Picture to Burn.” Both singers pull the listener in with only their strong storytelling.
As both songs go on, it’s clear that both artists channel their anger to put on the show. Ada’s punctuality of certain words and emphasis on phrases mimics Swift’s style for sure. The viewer feels each women’s pain throughout the song.
