As an epic treat for 2023’s Black Friday extravaganza, Walmart has made some insane moves for their advertisement. Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert have successfully reunited to reprise their roles in the 2004 flick — except now they are fully grown-up.

Mean Girls Original Cast Come Together for Epic Walmart Ad

Nine years since Mean Girls graced the big screens, the original cast reassembled to support Walmart’s hot holiday deals. The commercial, which officially aired on November 1, features guidance counselor Cady Heron (Lohan), weather reporter Karen Smith (Seyfried), stage mom Gretchen Wieners (Chabert), proud dad Kevin Gnapoor (Rajiv Surendra) and bestie Damian (Daniel Franzese) returning to North Shore High School where a new crew of It girls rule the halls.

“At North Shore, some things never change. On Wednesdays we wear pink, but now we shop Walmart Black Friday deals,” Cady said in the voiceover.

The Walmart ad recalls some of the movie’s most memorable scenes, including the Plastics’ “Jingle Bell Rock” performance to Karen’s hilarious weather reports.

Of being back on set, Lohan stated that it was “so nice being back together after all these years.” According to the Mean Girls star, it’s been great catching up with everyone. Chabert shares the same sentiment, describing the reunion as a “wonderful” chance to reminisce the past.

Excitingly, the Mean Girls comeback will not be a one-time thing. Starting this week, Walmart will be dropping new ads featuring the cast every Wednesday leading up to Black Friday and on Cyber Monday.

Why is Rachel McAdams Absent from the Walmart Shopping Spot?

It’s totally noticeable that Rachel McAdams, the actress who played the iconic Regina George, was absent in the commercial. This has apparently made fans wonder if she’s not in good terms with some of the cast.

However, an insider clarified that there’s no tension between McAdams and any of her castmates. Rather, McAdams just didn’t feel the need to be a part of the Walmart ad.

“Rachel McAdams didn’t want to do it,” a source told Page Six. “They were all offered it. But the three of them loved being together for their reunion.”

“They had a great time talking about being moms, and it was definitely a loss not having Rachel there,” the source added.

It pays to note that this is not the first time McAdams has turned down an opportunity to be in the limelight. In a previous interview with Bustle, the About Time explained that she took a two-year hiatus from acting to keep herself mentally healthy.

“I felt guilty for not capitalizing on the opportunity that I was being given because I knew I was in such a lucky spot,” she said. “But I also knew it wasn’t quite jiving with my personality and what I needed to stay sane.”

In the same interview, McAdams revealed that during her break from Hollywood, she rejected offers for major roles such as The Devil Wears Prada, Casino Royale, Mission: Impossible III, Iron Man, and Get Smart.

“You don’t go to theater school to learn about how to deal with [fame]. There’s no book on how to navigate that,” she said. “There were definitely some anxious moments of wondering if I was just throwing it all away, and why was I doing that?”
