‘The Masked Singer’ Renewed for a Third Season With a BIG Premiere Date!
Reading Time: 2 minutes
During upfronts last week, Fox announced that The Masked Singer has been renewed for a THIRD season! The show will premiere season three right after the 2020 Super Bowl.
The announcement, made last Thursday, said the show would premiere on February 2. It will follow Super Bowl LIV, the biggest lead-in in television each year. They clearly have a lot of faith that it will deliver! Later that week, on Wednesday, February 5, the show will have its premiere in its regular time period at 8pm ET/PT.
The Masked Singer was a breakout hit in its first season, leading to two more seasons. It brought together celebrities from athletes to actors/actresses to comedians to legendary singers. The fun and quirkiness of the show were universally appealing. Plus, it was fun watching the panelists try to guess who was under each mask, while also playing along at home. The second season is set to premiere this fall.
Fox’s entertainment chief Charlie Collier said the show’s third season would be produced via a new shingle, Fox Alternative Entertainment. Previous production company Endemol Shine is exiting the North American production. They will continue to produce The Masked Singer in other territories.
As for who will appear on future seasons? Well that much is under wraps. But Charlie Collier did mention that the budget for the second season was lower than the first, despite it being a massive hit. We are hoping the star power is even higher than season one! Now, casting has much more leverage to get celebrities on the show since it was successful.
