‘The Masked Singer’ Recap: Top 6 + The “Best Performance EVER”?!

The Top 6 are all coming together for one epic episode of The Masked Singer! And one of the performances is the “best performance on The Masked Singer EVER.” But with only three episodes left, who will win the Golden Mask?
The Kitty, Rhino, Frog, Night Angel, Astronaut, and Turtle will perform for the panel and special guest Gordon Ramsey! Let’s get into our Masked Singer Top 6 recap.
Who is the Kitty?
Clues: The Kitty says being in the bottom two was a “real wake-up call.” She says she’s “been on many stages” and “played many roles.” Two men in black are fighting with pirate swords as another sits at a piano in a red riding hood. She looks in a mirror and a silver apple appears. Then, we see a monkey with a cymbal. Kitty says she has to “reinvent herself” while a record with “MIND YOUR MANNERS SEAL SISTERS” written on it spins. A waiter delivers roses, a Faberge egg, and a carton of milk. Lastly, men in black cross two sticks into an “X.”
Performance: Starting off the night on a high note, the Kitty sang “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” by Marilyn Monroe. She brought her signature sass and some dance moves this time around! I thought this was one of her better performances so far. It was a perfect fit for her style.
Judges’ Guesses: Charlotte Church, Lea Michele, Eva Longoria
Who is the Rhino?
Clues: The Rhino says he needs some “quiet, tranquility, serenity.” He is seen doing yoga and mentions his wife and “baby rhinos.” The clues show a wooden stool then nine guitar picks on a yoga mat. Rhino wants to show his family “it’s never too late to rewrite your story.”
Performance: Next up, Rhino sang Thomas Rhett’s “Die A Happy Man.” I’ve always thought he had a great twang for country music. This song put that on full display! While it might have been an ambitious choice for Rhino, he did well with it. The performance did seal the deal for me, though, that I don’t think he’s a professional singer.
Judges’ Guesses: Jeff Bridges, Charles Kelley, Barry Zito
Who is the Frog?
Clues: Frog’s clues started with him talking about how he didn’t expect to make it this far in the competition. At “Frog PD,” we see some chocolate truffles. Then, he’s playing with a basketball. A #23 jersey is shown hanging up on the wall. When he looks at a web of evidence, the camera zooms in on a “13” note pad and a Twinkie.
Performance: Switching it up from his usual rap song choices, Frog went with an Imagine Dragons song, “Whatever It Takes.” And it was just him on the stage! He still rocked the dancing though. Frog rapped the verses and freestyled the chorus, but this was more of a true song performance than his past ones have been.
Judges’ Guesses: Lil Jon, Bow Wow, Omarion
Who is the Night Angel?
Clues: For her clues, the Night Angel focused on all the “calls” she’s gotten in her life. It’s basically an infomercial for the “Angel Hotline.” The number is 555-0100 and the disclaimer at the bottom reads, “All calls are $2.85/minute. Must be 2000 years or older to call.” Night Angel holds up a lighter and claims she can “stand alone.” At the end, the judges pointed out that we saw fish hooks.
Performance: Night Angel brought it with her performance of “Black Velvet” of Alannah Myles. She came to play! This proved that Night Angel won’t go down without a fight. Jenny even called it the “best performance on The Masked Singer EVER!” I don’t know if I agree with that, but for sure Night Angel’s best performance yet.

Who is the Astronaut?
Clues: Astronaut’s clues took place in a little cabin with plants everywhere, including a venus flytrap. We see a poker hand with four Aces and a JOKER card on the table. He felt like he was “frozen, like [he] stopped growing.” As a result, he decided to move to this new world. He walks by a bale of hay. Astronaut then holds out a lobster on a fishing line. To close, he throws a paper airplane at the camera.
Performance: Singing “Story Of My Life” by One Direction, Astronaut brought the boy band vibes once again. While he has a good voice, the competition is fierce and this was one of his weaker performances. He has quite the range though and I like what he did to make the song his own!
Judges’ Guesses: Jonathan Groff, Skylar Astin, Jonathan Taylor Thomas
Who is the Turtle?
Clues: The Turtle said he’s been “riddled with insecurities” his whole career. He walks out onto a chess board. We see a heart with a tiara attached to a Queen piece. Two clocks read “3:23” and “9:14.” He then replaces a trophy with a ram stuffed animal. Turtle finishes the clues by saying “Check. Mate.”
Performance: To close out the night, Turtle sang “Stay” by Alessia Cara and Zedd. He brought some competition for best dancer! Turtle definitely had some moves and the song was the perfect way to show those off. Knowing the voice he has, he’s my favorite to win the Golden Mask this season.

The Astronaut is REVEALED on The Masked Singer Top 6
Nick Cannon announced that Astronaut was going home after all the performances. So now it’s time for final predictions! Jenny guessed Ben Platt. Robin thought it might be Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Gordon Ramsey agreed with him. Nicole predicted Hunter Hayes. Finally, Ken “stole” Nicole’s earlier guess and went with Skylar Astin.
Another week, another prediction we got right! And Nicole finally jumped on board too. The Masked Singer comes back for the Top 5 next Wednesday at 8/7c on FOX.
