Luke Bryan Reveals Who Is in Talks to Replace Katy Perry on ‘American Idol’

American Idol judge Luke Bryan recently shared the names of a few celebrities who are allegedly in talks to possibly replace Katy Perry on the judging panel next year. Perry recently left the show after seven seasons.
Luke Bryan Talks Katy Perry’s American Idol Replacement
“I’ve said several names. I think P!nk has been in the talks, Miley Cyrus has been in the talks, Meghan Trainor has been in the talks,” Luke Bryan told Billboard in a recent interview, adding that Disney has “been really tightlipped” about who will be on the panel.
Bryan shared that he and fellow judge Lionel Richie don’t even know if they will be invited back next season, explaining, “I think Disney is just trying to figure out what they want to do and we’re just kind of sitting back and waiting until they decide.”
“Katy was really perfect for that job, and I think they’re just working real hard to find somebody that can really come in and do the job that Katy did,” Bryan said. He and Richie have also been on the show for seven seasons.

Who’s Interested in Taking the Job?
A couple of the celebrities named by Bryan have actually commented on the possibility of joining the American Idol judging panel. P!nk told Entertainment Tonight that she wasn’t sure about taking the job, explaining that she doesn’t “like hurting people’s feelings.”
However, Meghan Trainor has been very vocal about her interest in joining the show. During an interview with Andy Cohen, she called it her “dream job,” adding that she has “emailed three awesome people who work in that world.” However, she hadn’t “heard any updates” at that time.
Miley Cyrus doesn’t appear to have commented on the possibility of her taking over Perry’s spot, but she does have talent show experience. Cyrus was a coach on The Voice for two seasons, and she also served as a guest mentor on Season 9 of American Idol.
