American Idol judge Luke Bryan recently earned his 30th No. 1 hit on country radio with the song “Country On.” The singer reacted to the exciting news, sharing the secrets to his success in the music industry.
Luke Bryan Earns 30th No. 1 Hit with ‘Country On’
Bryan released the song “Country On” in July of this year. The lyrics pay tribute to blue-collar American workers, as Bryan sings, “Hey, hey, USA / We ain’t seen our better days.” The music video, released in August, featured footage of real workers.
Music Row reports that Bryan has co-written 12 of his 30 No. 1 hits. In this case, “Country On” was written by Mark Nesler, David Frasier, Mitch Oglesby, and Styles Haury. The star told the outlet, “I looked at all my heroes—guys like George Strait and Brooks & Dunn—all of my heroes wrote songs and they found songs, too.”
Bryan added that he likes to “step outside of my comfort zone” by working with younger writers, explaining, “The main thing is staying who you are, but also trying to grow as a writer, as a singer, and as a musician.”
The singer shared that his kids are “at the top of the list” of people he consults when choosing his next single. As he explained, “They’re not jaded. They’re just listening. I play demos whenever we get in my pickup truck, and whatever demos the boys keep wanting to hear, there’s something special about those.”

On Monday, Bryan took to Instagram to share a photo of himself posing next to lights that spelled out the number 30, to mark this latest milestone. He wrote in the caption that it was “crazy to hear” that he hit that number.
“I’m blessed to have this career and can’t thank everyone involved enough for supporting my dreams,” he wrote before quoting the song “Country On.” He called it “a come together moment,” adding, “I couldn’t have hand picked a better 30th. Love y’all.”
This past weekend, Bryan finished up his last run of shows at Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas for this year. He’ll have more shows at the venue starting in February.
