Lizzo Teases New Music, Performs Song Riff-Off with James Corden
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Lizzo stopped by The Late Late Show this week to preview her new music and get into a riff-off with host James Corden to decide which era has the best dance bops — the ’80s or today. The star’s new show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls is premiering this week.
Lizzo Previews New Music from Upcoming Album
Lizzo shared that she’s been working on her new album for three years, and it feels “amazing” to finally share it with everyone. This will be Lizzo’s fourth studio album. She teased that fans would be able “to hear some of it pretty soon.”
It turned out to be sooner than we expected, as Corden surprised everyone by pulling out a record labeled “TOP SECRET Lizzo New Music 2022.” The host put it on the turntable and gave everyone a quick listen to a new song called “About Damn Time.”
Lizzo teased a release date of April 14. We’re not sure if she was referring to the song or the entire album, but it’s exciting either way. The singer will also be the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live April 16, so she’ll probably perform some new music during the show.

The Star Got Into a Riff-Off with James Corden
Corden shared with his audience that he’d recently been to wedding with “zero dancing” until the DJ put on ’80s music. He said “nothing comes close” to that decade for “dance party bangers.” Lizzo objected to this argument, and the pair decided to settle things with a riff-off.
With the help of the Filharmonic, they performed songs from the ’80s and today, including Harry Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar,” Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” and BTS’ “Butter.” Eventually, they decided on a truce and teamed up to perform Lizzo’s hit song “Juice.”
Lizzo’s new show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls will premiere on Amazon Prime Video this Friday, March 25. Ten women will compete on the show for a chance to join Lizzo as a dancer on her world tour.
