Little Mix Loses Both ‘BRIT Award’ Categories Despite Amazing Year As a Trio

Fans think Little Mix didn’t get enough credit at the 2022 BRIT Awards on February 8. This girl group had a crazy and successful year in 2021. They started the new year out as a trio and have gone on to thrive in their new era.
2021 was the beginning of Little Mix’s era as a trio. Before 2021, the group was made up of Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson. In Dec 2020, Nelson departed from the girl group. Even though many fans were sad to see Nelson leave, they continued to support the X Factor winners as a trio.
Regardless of the new era of Little Mix, they’ve continued to be a huge name in music. With numerous song releases and plenty of stunning music videos, Little Mix is clearly still on top of their game. In August they made history as the first girl group to hold 100 weeks on the top 10 in the United Kingdom. Later in the year they celebrated the group’s 10 year anniversary by releasing an album featuring their throwback hits and a few new tracks.
While they continued to thrive as a group, two members worked while pregnant with their first children. Pinnock and Edwards welcomed their children into the world in August. Even though some band members are new mothers, Little Mix still plans to embark on their Confetti Tour in April and May.
Following the tour, the group plans to take a break from music. The group has confirmed that they are not splitting up, just hitting pause. These ladies have been going non-stop since 2011, so I think it’s fair that they want a break.
Fans Think The Trio Deserved More in The BRIT Awards
Little Mix was nominated for the BRIT Awards for best group and best international song for their hit “Heartbreak Anthem” with Galantis and David Guetta. It was announced last night that the trio had lost in both categories after being the first girl group ever to win best group in 2021. Fans were upset to hear that rock band, Wolf Alice was announced as the 2022 winner in the category. I think their loss hits harder this year since fans know Little Mix will soon be on a break.
It’s been reported that Little Mix was not in attendance at the 2022 BRIT Awards. Little Mix shared a video of their past BRIT performances on Twitter. Within the video caption the group congratulated all of this years nominees and winners. It’s clear that the trio has no harsh feelings toward their fellow nominees.
