Lionel Richie Was Reportedly Crying, Giggling With His Daughter While Walking Her Down The Aisle

Lionel Richie reportedly grew emotional as he walked his daughter Sofia down the aisle at her fairytale wedding last April. In a recent interview, Sofia fondly recalled the emotional father-daughter moment, one that took a full seven minutes given their sheer excitement.
Lionel Richie Laughed, Cried During Daughter’s Wedding
Lionel Richie walked his youngest daughter down the aisle to her fiancé Elliot Grainge, sharing a wordless conversation conveyed through giggles and knowing glances.
“We have this little look we give each other…[so] we just gave each other this smirk. We were like two giddy little kids following the rabbi, who was telling us what to do,” Sofia said.
The 74-year-old music icon and the 25-year-old model were enveloped in a bubble all their own, relishing their special bond during a milestone occasion. The father-daughter pair apparently spent the whole walk down the aisle crying and giggling.
Richie himself has echoed as much in past interviews, saying “You’re the love of my life, and I’m so happy for you” as they made their way down the aisle. As the father of the bride, he reminisced about how Sofia kept repeating “I love you, dad” the entire walk.
The nuptials, held at a historic hotel in Antibes, France, were certainly a family affair. Richie was amongst 180 guests that also included Sofia’s mother Diane Alexander, sister Nicole Richie, and brother-in-law Joel Madden. The night before, Sofia had hosted a more intimate rehearsal dinner for those nearest and dearest.
Richie has long taken pride in Sofia’s burgeoning success as a model and designer. Her fairytale Chanel wedding dresses became a viral sensation, introducing her to a new generation of fans. Still, fashion choice was never Sofia’s priority. Saying that she went into the wedding with “zero motive” for growing her popularity online, she said.
Lionel Richie Influenced His Daughter’s Beauty Routine
Sofia credits her dad for shaping her approach to skincare and beauty over the years. “He’s my queen,” the model proclaimed in a recent interview. Indeed, Sofia has relied on the music icon’s wisdom since childhood to care for her skin.
“I get a lot of my beauty advice from my dad. It’s been that way for my entire life,” she said. “He gives me all his little hacks.”
Sofia admits that Richie emphasized the importance of moisturizing from an early age, making her apply lotion daily even when she resisted. Now, Sofia is encouraging her husband, Grainge, to adopt her intensive routine.
