The legend Lionel Richie, with a career spanning over 50 years, has finally been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. The American Idol judge recently performed all of his greatest hits before being immortalized in the highest honor a musician can hope to achieve.

Richie Took to the Stage For a Performance With Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl

After being introduced to play his greatest hits, Richie opened up with a beautiful live performance of “Hello.” The audience was continually in awe of Richie’s vocals even at 73 years of age, he can still deliver songs seemingly with ease.

The singer went on to perform the Commodores’ song “Easy,” featuring artist, Foo Fighters’ lead Dave Grohl. This duet quickly became one of the highlights of the night, mainly because of Richie’s vocals and Grohl’s guitar playing blending in perfect harmony.

Lenny Kravitz inducted Richie and dubbed the singer-songwriter as “love personified,” free of all pretensions. Richie eventually got inducted and while being on cloud nine, he compared the feeling to reaching heaven.

“I was the kid that was a fan to practically everyone in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,” Richie said. “To go from fan to in it, they let the fan in the club. Can you imagine?”

Richie’s acceptance speech was every bit as humorous as it was memorable. The singer joked about his love for the business putting his family second only to his musical career. All jokes aside, he seriously thanked close friends and co-workers during his speech.

Recounting Richie’s Impressive Career

Among the many accolades he’s known for, he has earned four Grammy Awards in his lengthy career. Richie’s success journey began when he released his self-titled debut solo album. The first single topped the Billboard Hot 100, while two other singles also topped the charts.

Hot off the success of his first solo album, Richie left the Commodores and released his sophomore solo album. The album, Can’t Slow Down, shot him to global superstardom. Afterwards, he wrote five more singles.

In present day, Richie has released ten studio albums, with most selling millions of copies at a time. His contribution to music worldwide makes him one of the best-selling musical artists of all time. His third album was also a success then went on to became one of the most successful singer-songwriters of all time.
