Laine Hardy, Will You Accept this Rose? The ‘Idol’ Winner Books New Gig on ‘The Bachelorette’

Laine Hardy just announced that he will be performing his single “Memorize You” on The Bachelorette next week. The Season 17 American Idol winner will be filling a spot that normally belongs to up-and-coming performers and artists that we have never heard before.

Laine will be performing the song for The Bachelorette star Katie Thurston and a guy she chooses to go on a romantic date with her. These scenes historically consist of a couple dancing along to a song they have probably never heard before. In Season 8, country band Gloriana performed. Season 10 saw This Wild Life perform. On Season 23 of The Bachelor, Tenille Arts took the stage. Big & Rich performed on Season 19 of The Bachelor.
There have been a few big names thrown into the mix here and there over the seasons like Baha Men, Robin Thicke, and Aloe Blacc. Laine is heading on tour all across the United States this summer. His appearance on The Bachelorette might generate some more buzz for him and contribute to ticket sales.
Laine is one of the American Idol winners that has not skyrocketed to instant fame after winning the show. He definitely isn’t a Kelly Clarkson or a Carrie Underwood just yet. He falls into the category of a Kris Allen or a Maddie Poppe, and there’s nothing wrong with that. American Idol treats Alejandro Aranda as the winner of Season 17 due to his success. It’s just interesting to see Laine take on this new gig on the popular ABC show and try to establish his footing as a force in country music.
While Laine prepares to watch himself on television during next week’s episode of The Bachelorette, it looks like he may have found love of his own. He is back together with Gracie Lee. He dated Miss Louisiana Teen USA Sydney Taylor last summer. A recent Instagram post features Laine and Gracie posing side by side with a heartfelt caption, leading us to believe they are back on.
“Just wanted to say I’m very thankful for this beautiful woman right here,” Laine wrote. “She’s tough as nails & has a heart of gold.”
