Kristin Chenoweth Teases New Broadway Show
During a recent appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, Chenoweth was asked by a fan about the status of a musical she was previously planning about Tammy Faye Bakker. Chenoweth said there was “no update,” which “breaks my heart.”
“I’m digging and working fervently on a new project, brand new, for Broadway,” Chenoweth shared.
When host Andy Cohen asked if it was a “totally original, new show,” she confirmed that it was. He also asked if it was any of the projects she had mentioned on the show in the past, to which Chenoweth answered, “No. It’s brand new. I’m excited.”
People points out that Chenoweth last appeared on Broadway in 2019, for eight performances of Kristin Chenoweth: For the Girls. Chenoweth is known for playing Glinda in the original Broadway production of Wicked.
Chenoweth Recently Published a Book
Earlier this week, Chenoweth released a new book titled I’m No Philosopher, But I Got Thoughts. The book’s subtitle describes it as “mini-meditations for saints, sinners, and the rest of us.” It features stories from Chenoweth’s life, as well as inspiring quotes, prompts, and prayers.
The book’s foreword was written by Chenoweth’s friend Ariana Grande, who is taking on the role of Glinda in the movie adaptations of Wicked. When Grande was a coach on The Voice in Season 21, she invited Chenoweth to be her team’s Battle Advisor.
During her recent appearance on WWHL, Chenoweth said she was “so proud” of Grande for earning her dream role in Wicked, adding that the star is “gonna put her own stamp on” the character of Glinda.
