Khloe Kardashian Speaks on Body-Shaming After Unedited Bikini Photo Surfaces
After an unedited bikini photo of Khloe Kardashian surfaced on the internet, her team rushed to have it removed. Some fans praised the Keeping Up with The Kardashians star for looking equally gorgeous without editing. Others denounced her constant use of photoshop in photos. Now, she is speaking out about her experience with body-shaming for over a decade.
Khloe Kardashian Speaks Out About Unedited Bikini Photo
Kardashian posted two unedited videos and a picture of her unedited body on Instagram today, standing up to critics. The images were accompanied by a lengthy explanation as to why she wanted the unedited bikini picture taken down from the internet.
“The photo that was posted this week is beautiful,” she wrote. “But as someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn’t flattering in bad lighting or doesn’t capture your body the way it is after working so hard to get it to this point – and then shares it to the world – you should have every right to ask for it to not be shared – regardless of who you are.”
Kardashian also added that “the pressure, constant ridicule and judgment my entire life to be perfect and to meet other’s standards of how I should look has been too much to bear.”
“It’s almost unbearable trying to live up to the impossible standards that the public have all set for me,” she continued.
Kardashian Offered Advice to Those Going Through the Same Thing
The 36-year-old feels that in photos “every single flaw and imperfection has been micro-analyzed and made fun of to the smallest detail and I am reminded of them every day by the world.”
She also acknowledges that there are haters who have accused her of getting work done on her body. While she did admit to using filters and editing, Kardashian continues to present herself to the world in the way that she wants to be seen.
On episodes of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” there are many scenes where Khloe is hitting the gym hard. Not to mention her work on “Revenge Body.” It is clear that she takes pride in her stunning image, which she credits to “hard work.”
“My body, my image and how I choose to look and what I want to share is my choice,” she added. “It’s not for anyone to decide or judge what is acceptable anymore.”
Kardashian also offered some advice for those who are also criticized, “just do you and make sure your heart is happy.”
Kardashian Highlights the Importance of Spreading Body Positivity
Many of Kardashian’s famous friends including Ariana Grande and Kimora Lee Simmons showed their support in her Instagram comments section.
Kardashian is just one of the many celebrities whose looks are constantly questioned and critiqued, including the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family. Fans on social media never shy away from pointing out editing flaws or photo blunders.
Whether you love her or hate her, Kardashian’s message enforces the importance of body positivity and loving yourself. A message we all need in 2021.
Celebrities often feel like they are under a microscope. It’s time to start spreading positive body image and building people up instead of tearing them down.
