Former The Voice guest coach Kelsea Ballerini is getting a divorce from her husband of almost five years, Australian singer Morgan Evans. Both stars took to Instagram earlier this week to share the news with their followers.

Kelsea Ballerini Files for Divorce from Husband

According to People, Ballerini filed for divorce from Evans last Friday. The couple tied the knot in December 2017, after meeting the year before while co-hosting the CMC Music Awards in Australia. Ballerini addressed the divorce news on her Instagram stories Monday.

“Friends, I’ve always tried my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold,” she wrote to fans. “This is now public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce.”

She called it a “deeply difficult decision,” adding, “I feel extremely grateful for the years of marriage to Morgan and hopeful for the next seasons.” Evans posted his own message, writing that he was “very sad” to confirm the split and adding, “I wish it were otherwise but sadly it is not.”

Last year, Ballerini told People that she and Evans went to couples therapy “all the time.” She also shared that her parents’ divorce had affected her view of relationships in the past, as she initially “swore I was never going to get married.”

Ballerini Is Releasing a New Album Next Month

Ballerini briefly filled in for Kelly Clarkson in Season 20 of The Voice last year, and she also appeared as the fifth coach on The Comeback Stage in Season 15. The short-lived spin-off show gave eliminated contestants a chance to return. Bebe Rexha was Ballerini’s replacement in season 16.

Ballerini’s fourth studio album Subject to Change is releasing on September 23. She’ll also be heading out on the Heartfirst tour, with ten dates starting September 24 in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and more. Tickets are on sale now.

The country singer released the first single from her new album, “Heartfirst,” earlier this year. Other recent tracks from Ballerini include “Love Is a Cowboy” and “The Little Things.”

Meanwhile, Evans released the EP The Country and the Coast: Side A last year. He’s currently on tour promoting the release, and he’ll be heading to his home country of Australia to perform several dates with Brad Paisley next month.
