Kelly Clarkson Steals Blake Shelton’s Win Cam With Young Duo
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Everyone was absolutely shocked when Macie and Marie Cunningham came and rocked The Voice stage with their gospel-pop music. The Cunningham sisters are so impressive since they are so young. They had voices that no one was really expecting.
These sister came on to The Voice stage and seriously shocked all. Their voices definitely did not sound like their ages, they’re only 14 and 15 years-old! As a duo, they weren’t always together when singing, but personally I thought it was cool how they used both voices instead of creating one combined voice.
Kelly Clarkson turned her chair for the duo first, with John Legend right behind. Both coaches were astonished when they got a look at the sisters. Even though it was a blind audition, the girls had a great stage presence as well. They were jamming to the song and so was their dad off stage. I could see them getting pretty far in this competition.
After all of the chairs turned, Legend made a big deal out of how they are from Ohio. He was interested in their gospel aspect since he began singing in church as well. Legend made sure to mention that he also comes from a family that sings together, similar to theirs.
The Sisters Relate to John Legend Perfectly, but Choose Team Kelly
Clarkson really didn’t have much of an argument since Legend related to them so well. She tried a new tactic, which was to coach them on the spot. She said that the girls weren’t perfectly in sync during their performance and it could be consider weak spot in the overall audition but nothing they can’t work on. It came as a huge surprise that the sisters actually chose Team Kelly after all of the arguments.
The best part of this episode had to be when Clarkson pulled the Cunningham Sisters into “Blakes Win Camera” and basically made fun of his coaching gift. It’s almost like they chose Team Blake, but got all of the benefits of choosing Kelly as their mentor.
