Kelly Clarkson Reunites with High School Choir Directors
Clarkson was in the studio in New York, but she got to see Burleson High School greet her via video chat. The marching band and cheerleaders were gathered on the school’s football field, and Principal Wayne Leek shared how proud they are to have Clarkson as an alum.
“It just means so much for us to be able to talk to you,” he told the singer. “We’ve got so many different programs here. Burleson High School is all about allowing kids opportunities to follow their passion. And you’re a prime example of that.”
The surprise wasn’t over, as Clarkson also got to talk to her former high school choir directors. The singer was thrilled, calling it a “great surprise.” One of the choir directors said Clarkson “was always willing to put in the work.”
Clarkson joked that he was “being nice,” adding that she was “definitely a high school kid” and her teachers “had to push me.” She shared that they “took care” with students who didn’t have “as much as you need at home.”
