Kelly Clarkson redeems herself after failing to identify “Since U Been Gone” in musical challenge against Anne Hathaway. Clarkson was able to determine one of her songs quicker than Michael Bublé during a mini game on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Randy Jackson joined Clarkson on her talk show ahead of the season 2 premiere of Name That Tune. It was great to see the American Idol winner alongside one of the former judges of the series nearly 20 years later.

Kelly Clarkson Recognizes Clues to Her Own Song

This was basically a mini American Idol reunion with Bublé. Jackson gave Clarkson the greatest honor of all and said that she totally has done it since winning in 2002. The singer almost got emotional while thanking him.

Clarkson and Bublé agreed to play a mini Name That Tune game. Jackson gave them clues, leading them to guess the moment that changed time in a musical genre. While Buble guessed theme songs from game shows, Clarkson guessed her American Idol‘s winner single, “A Moment Like This.”

Fans joked online saying that this was Clarkson’s redemption for not recognizing “Since U Been Gone” in a mini game with Anne Hathaway. Jackson noted that because people are listening to the clues, they often don’t think of their own songs.

What is ‘Name That Tune’?

During Jackson’s interview he discussed the specifics of his series Name That Tune. While this series is only on season two, it first premiered on the radio in 1952 and moved to television in 1953. The series originally aired on NBC then switched to CBS until 1959. Revivals of the series took place in 1970 and 1974, with yet another in 1984 (lasting one season). FOX’s version of Name That Tune premiered in early 2021. It originally aired directly after The Masked Singer on Wednesday nights, but the second season moved the air date to Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.

Jackson has previously stated that the series is so difficult for contestants because they have to get each song title exactly right to get points. He claims that the series is harder than some may think because of that detail. On The Kelly Clarkson Show, Jackson states that there are multiple celebrities and olympians lined up for the the second season.

Name This Tune returns to FOX on Tuesday, March 29, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Contestants compete to identify songs played by the in-house band, for a chance to win the $100,000 grand prize.
