Kelly Clarkson Celebrates 20th Anniversary of ‘American Idol’ Victory

Kelly Clarkson recently reminisced on how American Idol significantly changed her life. Clarkson is nothing but thankful for the people and opportunities that came from her historic victory 20 years ago on the debut season of American Idol.

The singer shared an emotional message for the celebration of her anniversary in the entertainment indsutry. It’s been nearly 20 years since her victory and Clarkson is clearly just as grateful.

“20 years ago today I won American Idol and it forever changed the course of my life,” she began. “That moment was the door that opened up so much access and opportunity, and creative partnerships that I will be grateful for all of my days.”

Clarkson continued to express her gratitude for the family and friends she made along the way in the music industry. Although she did not mention specific names, Clarkson acknowledged all of the people behind her enormous success. She also signified her appreciation to those who sympathized on her during the unhappy days.


“We only get so many trips around the sun and while I am proud and feel abundantly blessed of the successes and failures that I have learned from,” Clarkson wrote. “I am most proud and grateful for those friends that have become family, and for their arms that have held me when I needed it and their hearts that listened to me when I felt lost.”

The Singer Thanked Fans Who Voted For Her Years Ago

The American Idol winner’s rise to fame was no surprise following her time on the competition series. Clarkson first appeared on the show as a 20-year-old cocktail waitress from Texas, that chose to pursue singing as a full time career.

After becoming a clear fan favorite during the competition, she walked away as the first ever winner of American Idol. Since her well-deserved win, Clarkson became a worldwide sensation with hits like “Breakaway,” “Since U Been Gone,” and more.


During her lengthy career, she’s sold over 25 million albums, won two Grammy Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, five Daytime Emmy Awards, and even charted on the Billboard and iTunes Charts countless times. Undeniably, the “Since U Been Gone” singer has become one of the biggest names in the music industry.

Fans were quick to respond to Clarkson’s post, sharing their appreciation for the singer. While many commented about voting for her, others shared what the singer’s music means to them.

“Your music is the soundtrack to so many stages of my life. So thankful for your music and humor and the light you bring to this world,” another fan stated.

After 20 years, Clarkson is still just as popular as she was when she won the show. With her newest endeavors based on her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, this singer continues to thrive in the entertainment business.
