Kelly Clarkson Accidentally Addresses Carrie Underwood Feud Rumors

Pop singer Kelly Clarkson is fully aware of the fans’ long-running allegations that there exists animosity between her and Carrie Underwood. Wanting to shut down the rumors, Clarkson clarified that she’s not close enough with the fellow Idol winner.

In her recent guest appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Clarkson took an awkward chance in clarifying the Carrie Underwood issue. When a caller began asking her a question, she almost instantly responded, saying that she already knows the direction of the query.
“People always pit us together, and we don’t even know each other well enough to be pitted together. Literally, we’ve run into each other a handful of times. There’s no beef between us,” she said.
As everybody knows, Clarkson won the first season of American Idol, claiming and enjoying such historic victory until now. Underwood, on the other hand, is also an Idol winner, snatching the trophy during season four. Over the years, fans have speculated that Clarkson and Underwood have a standing bad blood because of the level of their Idol popularity.Â
The Question Wasn’t About the Idol Rivalry Speculations
Apparently though, the season one winner judged too quickly. When the caller finished their question, it turned out that the query was about Clarkson’s interview with Carrie on her daytime talk show in 2021. The “Piece By Piece” performer just laughed off her own mistake and proceeded to answer the question.
“Everybody always asks me the ‘pitted against each other’ question,” she said. “The thing that was cool about [Carrie’s appearance] is that everybody always pits us against each other.”
Clarkson further explained her answer, hinting that the ongoing feud rumors speak about sexism in the industry. According to the singer, people “don’t do that with dudes.”
Last June 23, Clarkson released her divorce album Chemistry via Atlantic Records. As expounded by the singer, the music collection represents the whole process of her divorce, from the good times to the ugly and parts.
