Katharine McPhee Says She’s “Very Accustomed” to Working With Husband David Foster

American Idol Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee is releasing a Christmas EP with her husband David Foster later this month called Christmas Songs. McPhee recently opened up about what it’s like to work with Foster, whom she’s known since her Idol days.

McPhee told Fox News Digital that she’s “very accustomed” to being on stage and in the recording studio with Foster, adding, “That’s where we’re the most comfortable together. It doesn’t create any friction between us at all. There’s no kind of unknown between us. That’s where it all started for us.”
The singer shared how important Christmas traditions are in their household. Apparently, they spend the day after Thanksgiving decorating the house and listening to Christmas music. The couple, who competed together on The Masked Singer as Banana Split, eventually decided to record a Christmas project of their own.
“Working with David is the best because he knows exactly what he wants, what he needs from you,” McPhee shared. “Being his wife and also his fan before we were even married, I have an immense respect for him… And it’s been so much fun. We had the summer together and thought about just releasing a few songs on social platforms… but the idea turned into so much more.”

McPhee, Foster Like to Keep Things “Really Simple”
McPhee and Foster tied the knot in 2019. In February 2021, they welcomed their son Rennie David Foster. McPhee shared that her approach to romance with Foster is “really simple,” as the couple enjoys going to the movies together or talking over dinner.
“That’s our time together that we always make sure to have,” McPhee said. “We have a very hectic schedule so that’s really important to us, to carve out that time each day. And there’s always something to talk about whether it’s our family, our son – it’s our time.”
Christmas Songs will feature seven tracks, and is set to be released on November 25. The couple has already released the first song from the project, their cover of “Jingle Bell Rock.”
