Katharine McPhee and David Foster returned to the stage for their first performance since the death of their family nanny, Yadira Calito. The couple’s emotional performance was a testament to their strength in the face of tragedy.

Katharine McPhee, David Foster Performs Onstage Again

The beloved family nanny of McPhee and Foster was tragically killed in a car accident on August 9, 2023. The couple was devastated by her death and stepped away from their professional commitments to grieve and come to terms with the loss.

Their return to the stage was a powerful and moving moment. McPhee and her former Waitress co-star Erich Bergen were accompanied by Foster, who played the piano. The couple sang “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli, a song that was both a tribute to Calito and a reflection of their own grief.

The performance was met with a standing ovation from the audience. Many people were also moved to tears by the couple’s strength and resilience.

After the performance, McPhee said that she was grateful for the support of her fans and that she was glad to be back on stage. She said that Calito was a beloved member of their family and that she would never be forgotten. Foster then said that he was proud of McPhee for her courage and strength. He said that she was an inspiration to him and also to everyone who knew her.

The Couple Will Continue To Perform In Honor Of Calito

As the investigation into the accident unfolds, and with justice for Calito in mind, McPhee and Foster channeled their sorrow into their shared passion for music. Their return to the stage also served as a heartfelt tribute to Calito’s memory.

Calito’s role extended beyond the title of “nanny.” She was a beloved and integral part of the McPhee-Foster family, entrusted with the care of their young son, Rennie. Her sudden departure certainly left a void that was felt deeply by those who knew her.

Looking ahead, the curtain will rise once more for Foster’s Hitman Tour on November 1, 2023, in Warren, Michigan. This continued journey symbolizes the couple’s unyielding resolve to persevere in the face of adversity. Demonstrating that their music and unity can serve as a beacon of hope, even in the most trying times.
