Jordin Sparks teases collaboration with T-Pain throughout podcast interview. This American Idol pop mentor recently joined T-Pain on his podcast to discuss the series and her career as a whole.
It was clear that Sparks guest starred on T-Pain’s podcast because they had recently recorded a song together ahead of the interview. Following the excitement talk, they shared that more songs are in the future for them.
How This Singer Felt About Skyrocketing to Fame At Such a Young Age
Sparks got her beginning on American Idol at the ripe age of 16 years old. When she looks at the experience now she’s able to look at it differently because she knows the things she wants in life. When she was 16 and auditioning for the show she wasn’t expecting to succeed.
“I didn’t expect it, I knew I could do it if I was given the opportunity, but I didn’t know it would line up the way it did,” Sparks said. “I’m grateful, but I do think I would agree that I feel like you should be a little older. It’s a lot of pressure to put on a kid that doesn’t even know themself yet.”
Even though she now thinks it is a lot of pressure for a young artist, she’s thankful for how the series treated her in the long run. She’s currently content in her career because singing is still her passion. With superstardom aside, singing is the root of what she wants to do with her life.
Sparks skyrocketed to fame after winning season six of American Idol in 2007. Her album released soon after her win became a mainstream success. This album is currently certified Platinum in 2022, while three singles from the same album also received the same status. She continued to succeed while creating music for herself and writing for others. The artist recently revealed that she was the original writer of “The Way” by Ariana Grande featuring Mac Miller on the anniversary of the song. Sparks emotional song writing launched her own career, but also in part launched Grande’s.
Jordin Sparks Reveals The Reason For Her Music Hiatus
If you’ve been a fan of American Idol since the beginning, you’ll remember that there was a period where Sparks wasn’t releasing new music. After such an eventful time following her competition series win, the singer took a break from the fast paced career. On T-Pain’s podcast, Sparks shared that she had writer’s block from 2015 until 2020 which is why she didn’t release music for five years.
She noted that before the hiatus, she did everything she could to promote her 2015 album, Right Here Right Now, but its release was met with silence. During that time her label chanced from RCA records to a different, smaller company. Through the confusion and “an explosion” Sparks decided to reassess her life.
“What is not serving me because I don’t feel like myself. That was a really big sign, I was just like doing things I normally wouldn’t do or be 100 percent okay with,” Sparks said.
She began her break in 2016 and began travelling the world. While touring provides the opportunity for artists to travel the world, both Sparks and T-Pain agreed that half the time they don’t actually get to see any of the sights. After deciding to take her time, she continued the hiatus and even met her husband in the long run. Sparks noted that her husband helped her once again find who she was.
