American Idol Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks has confirmed that she received a car as part of her prize for taking the crown, unlike Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson. Sparks shared her thoughts on Clarkson’s recent comments in a TV interview.
Jordin Sparks Received Her American Idol Car
During a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the host got candid about her American Idol win back in 2002. According to Clarkson, the million-dollar prize was more “like a million dollars worth of investment in you.” She also said she never received the car she was promised.
It annoyed Clarkson when she later learned that Season 2 runner-up Clay Aiken apparently received two cars, including one for his mother. She said she told Aiken at the time that she would “kick your ass.”
Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks was recently a guest on Today with Jenny and Sheinelle, where she confirmed, “I got my car.” She added, “I wasn’t a part of Season 1, but the first season of anything is a little crazy.”
Sparks went on to say of Clarkson’s missing car, “I hope they give her one now. Somebody send her a Ford. Send her a Mustang.”

Carrie Underwood Still Has Her Mustang
Jordin Sparks isn’t the only American Idol winner to receive a car as part of their prize. Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood was gifted a Ford Mustang for her win, and she still owns the car to this day. She even drove it on her first season as a judge on the show last year.
“I do still have the car that I won when I won American Idol. So I have my blue Mustang,” Underwood said in a 2023 interview, adding of the times she gets to drive it, “It always makes me want to drive it more, because it was such a pivotal point in my life. That was the car that I was driving around when I first moved to Tennessee, and I’m very, very glad I still have that car.”
