American Idol Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks recently shared a flirty message for Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson after she revealed that she never received the car she was promised as part of her prize for taking the crown.
Is Taylor Hicks Flirting with Kelly Clarkson?
In a recent interview with The Traitors winner Rob Rausch on her talk show, Kelly Clarkson revealed that she never received part of the prize she was promised for winning the first season of American Idol — specifically, a car.
She was especially annoyed when she found out that Season 2 runner-up Clay Aiken apparently received two cars: one for him, and one for his mother. Fellow Idol winner Taylor Hicks, who took the crown in Season 5, has since responded publicly to Clarkson’s comments.
“I am a big fan of Kelly Clarkson and consider her one of the most incredible voices to emerge from American Idol,” Hicks told Page Six in a statement last week. “I would be more than happy to help her find a new Mustang.”
Is the 49-year-old singer flirting with Clarkson? It certainly seems so, as Hicks later posted a screenshot of People‘s article about his recent comment on Instagram, writing in the caption, “Just waiting on a call @kellyclarkson.”

Is Clarkson Looking for Love?
Clarkson has not publicly dated anyone since she split from her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock in 2020. Blackstock, who shared two children with Clarkson, passed away last August after a battle with cancer.
Last year, the 43-year-old opened up about her perspective on dating after divorce during a performance of her Las Vegas residency. The singer told the crowd, “Dating can be very difficult, which is why I don’t. I’m like, it’s hard anyway. Add a spotlight, and it’s just… a dumpster fire.”
In 2024, Clarkson said in an interview that she was “enjoying being single,” adding that her two kids didn’t want her to date anyone new. She explained, “They’re young. It’s hard to picture their mom with someone else other than their dad.”
However, at the time, Clarkson hinted that she doesn’t intend to be single forever, saying, “I have expressed like, ‘Hey, I love you guys but Mommy needs lovings too.'”
