John Morgan Represents North Carolina in ‘American Song Contest’ Semifinals

John Morgan is currently representing North Carolina on American Song Contest with his song “Right in the Middle.” The singer is officially heading to the Semifinals thanks to the audience vote. John is an accomplished songwriter who’s penned tracks for country star Jason Aldean.
John Morgan Has Written Songs for Jason Aldean
According to his NBC bio, John is from a small North Carolina town called Sylva in the Great Smoky Mountains. He grew up with bluegrass music and toured festivals in a family band during the summer. John was inspired by artists like Tony Rice and John Mayer to start songwriting.
The musician ended up selling everything and moving to Nashville. One thing led to another, and he found himself in a writing session with Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy, bandmates to country star Jason Aldean.
Aldean ended up recording eight songs written by John, including his Grammy-nominated duet with Carrie Underwood, “If I Didn’t Love You.” John also toured with Aldean on his Back in the Saddle Tour last year.
John’s Debut Single Is ‘Coldest Beer in Town’
Aldean also signed John to Night Train Records, his BBR Music Group imprint. Last year, John put out his debut single, “Coldest Beer in Town.” He’s also covered songs like “Free Fallin'” by Tom Petty and “Slow Burn” by Kacey Musgraves on his YouTube channel.
John wrote “Right in the Middle” last year with his friends Will Bundy, Rodney Clawson, and Justin Wilson. He had been playing around with the song for a year, but never found the “right room” for it. The co-writers pulled from their collective experiences for the track.
In addition to performing on American Song Contest, John has also released a music video for the song, in which he drives around in a truck and plays guitar while performing the track.
John Recently Became a Father to a Baby Girl
John proposed to his girlfriend Hailey Rae over New Year’s, and in March they welcomed a baby girl named Willie Magdalene. Jason Aldean and his wife Brittany even threw them a baby shower earlier this year.
“In the midst of all the turmoil of this world God has blessed me with the gift of fatherhood and I’ve never been happier,” John wrote on Instagram to announce his daughter’s birth.
This is John’s first time in Los Angeles as he competes on American Song Contest. He recently posted a photo of Hailey and Willie and wrote, “4 days in LA’s got me missin’ my girls.”
