2021 has been an incredible year in music for Carrie Underwood. Her My Gift album took home the win at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. On top of that, the singer was also nominated for CMA Entertainer of the Year. In the mid of her achievements, the American Idol winner recently dropped the video for her new song, “If I Didn’t Love You” with Jason Aldean. The track is currently trending at number seven on YouTube.
“If I Didn’t Love You” Music Video
The “If I Didn’t Love You” music video captures the tale of an unresolved relationship. Filmed at Nashville’s stunning Schermerhorn Symphony Center, the location beautifully compliments the song’s powerful lyrics. Additionally, the song’s production comes from Aldean’s longtime collaborator, Michael Knox. Co-written by his bandmates Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy, Aldean expresses his excitement for Underwood on the track.
“Carrie was made for this song, but also for this video,” Aldean said. “I’m glad that she was down to get together to make it…it’s something that turned out a little outside of what I’d normally do, which is always cool.”
“If I Didn’t Love You” is also the lead single from Aldean’s upcoming tenth studio album. Historically, the song’s release marked the highest debut of a solo male/female duet since the establishment of the Billboard Hot Country charts. During an interview, Aldean compared the duo to the likes of legendary pairings such as Dolly Parton with Kenny Rogers and Tim McGraw with Faith Hill. Collectively, the song’s lyrics are just as special.
“If I didn’t love you I’d be good by now. I’d be better off than barely getting by somehow. Yeah it would be easy not to miss you, wonder about who’s with you. Turn the want you off whenever I want to, if I didn’t love you, if I didn’t love you,” the duo sing together in the chorus.
In addition to her recent musical releases, the country star will also be participating in a Las Vegas residency this December. The CMA award nominee has also been featured on Dan + Shay’s cover of “Only Us” for the Dear Evan Hansen film.
