Former American Idol contestant Jimmie Allen just announced that he’s releasing a new song collaboration with none other than Jennifer Lopez, who was a judge on the show when Allen auditioned.
Jimmie Allen Announces New Song with Jennifer Lopez
On Monday, Allen posted about the song on Instagram. He shared a photo of himself with Lopez, in front of a wooden background with a large glowing star. The two singers wear coordinating leopard-print outfits.
The new song is called “On My Way.” Lopez released a song by that name as part of the soundtrack to her recent movie Marry Me, so it’s likely that this collaboration is a new take on that track.
Allen added the hashtag #tulipdrive, referring to his upcoming third studio album Tulip Drive, set to be released June 24. It looks like this new release with Lopez will be featured on the album.
The new song is set to be released this Friday, May 27. Earlier this year, Allen released the single “Down Home.” The country star, who competed last season on Dancing with the Stars, will be joining Carrie Underwood on her Denim & Rhinestones tour starting this October.

Both Singers Have Ties to ‘American Idol’
Both Allen and Lopez have connections to American Idol, particularly Season 10. During that season, Lopez appeared on the judging panel with Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. That also happened to be the season Allen auditioned for.
Allen made it through Hollywood Week, but he didn’t make it into the Top 24. Scotty McCreery won Season 10, and Lopez returned as a judge for one more season before taking a break in Season 12. She returned for Seasons 13, 14, and 15 with Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban.
Allen hasn’t shared any snippets from the new song yet. It will be interesting to hear how they combine Allen’s country sound with Lopez’s pop style.
