Jennifer Hudson’s New Talk Show Premieres This September on Fox

Jennifer Hudson performs at Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront 2022

Former American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson is officially TV’s newest daytime talk show host. The Jennifer Hudson Show is premiering this September, with producers who previously worked on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Jennifer Hudson’s Talk Show Premieres in September

News that Hudson could be getting her own talk show first broke last year, when it was reported that Hudson was pitching a show to debut after DeGeneres wrapped up the final season of her own long-running talk show. She reportedly shot a test show on DeGeneres’ stage.

Earlier this year, the network made an announcement stating that show will premiere this fall. Now we have a premiere date of September 12, 2022. (That happens to be Hudson’s birthday). Hudson shared the news on Instagram, along with a promotional image for the new show, with the tagline “Lighting Up Daytime!”

Variety reports that Hudson’s new show is from Warner Bros., which was behind DeGeneres’ show. Reports state that the new show will take place in the same studio. Longtime Ellen executive producers Mary Connelly, Andy Lassner, and Corey Palent will be showrunners.

Reports state that The Jennifer Hudson Show has been cleared in over 95 percent of the country. Fox TV stations will be its core station group.

Hudson Recently Reached EGOT Status

Hudson’s new talk show isn’t the only reason she has to celebrate these days. As of this past weekend, the singer and actress has officially reached EGOT status. She’s won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Her most recent award is a Tony for producing the musical A Strange Loop. This achievement made Hudson the first American Idol alum to receive this honor. She is the second black woman to earn this Hollywood honor.

The star updated her Instagram status to include the fact that she has won all four awards. She famously won her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for playing Effie in the 2006 movie musical Dreamgirls. It just goes to show that you don’t have to win American Idol to become a star.

Even though Hudson placed seventh on her season of American Idol in 2004, she’s went on to have a very successful career. Ahead of her talk show, she’s been a coach on both The Voice and The Voice UK.
