Ever since her first audition on American Idol, Madison VanDenburg has been compared to Kelly Clarkson. She even went on to sing “Already Gone” and “Breakaway” on the show. But despite the constant comparisons and obvious similarities, the two have yet to meet.
Well, in our opinion, it’s about time that changes.

Madison VanDenburg is a 17-year-old high school student from upstate New York. She impressed the judges and audience alike on American Idol all season with her powerhouse vocals and commanding stage presence. This girl can SANG! She covered big artists like Alicia Keys and Celine Dion throughout the season. Madison’s also got some soul and some swagger!
It’s easy to see why the two were compared to each other. Madison is a younger, powerful and soulful singer. Her voice is bigger than she is! Similarly, Kelly Clarkson was only 20 when she won American Idol and she was best known for tackling artists like Aretha Franklin. Those are some big shoes to fill! And yet, she could pull it off. Madison brings back memories of early Idol, when talent and vocals were at the forefront.
But we’re not the only one hoping for Madison and Kelly to meet either! Just last week, Madison VanDenburg herself tweeted about it.
while I’m at it, @kellyclarkson I heard you are starting your talk show in NYC soon! I live in upstate NY, and I would LOVE TO MEET YOU!Especially because throughout my whole @AmericanIdol journey, they compared me to you (which was the BIGGEST COMPLIMENT I’VE EVER RECIEVED) 😁
Now unfortunately, Kelly Clarkson’s new talk show will actually film in LA at Universal Studios. But that is beside the point! She’s always touring and traveling and this is definitely feasible. Plus, Madison is a huge fan! What’s she got to lose?
Even though this might be a sore subject with her new show, The Voice, Kelly Clarkson has a huge opportunity to make dreams come true here! If not for Madison, do it for us. All I’m saying is, we need #KellyMeetMadison to be trending so we can make it happen.
