The new season of The X Factor UK premiered on Saturday with its preliminary auditions show. There were a lot of great acts that will be competing this year to be Great Britain’s new singing star. But there was one singer that clearly stood out from the pack. Will Grace Davies be the next winner of The X Factor UK?
She entered the room, with her cute blond hair and pleasant smile, humbly but confidently. She stood in front of the judges, Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne, and Louis Walsh. This would be a nerve wracking moment for anyone. But 20-year-old Grace Davies didn’t show any sign of nervousness. She explained that she had been singing since she was 16 in bars and pubs and working in a warehouse. Her dream, however, was to write and perform her own songs. Then she started singing.
She sang an original song, which can be very risky. The song was called Roots and was about her experience as a pub singer looking for love. Not only was her voice out of this world, but the quality of the songwriting was undeniable. Sharon and Nicole both cried and Louis was visibly moved. Even Simon’s cold, cold heart melted. She got four yeses, not surprisingly, and was immediately proclaimed by many on social media as the potential winner this year.
She is not without controversy. Rumors began to swirl that she was already signed to a record contract and that she performed with past X Factor favorite Olly Murs. She cleared up that she self-released and album and that her and Olly briefly sang together at a private event. Seems innocent enough, right? If we were into placing bets, we would bet on Grace.
