America’s Got Talent returns to NBC on Tuesday, July 14 for the sixth round of auditions. Ahead of Tuesday night’s episode, the show released an audition early, that pokes fun at the judges.
Impressionist Hands Off Celebrity Resumes to AGT Judges
It’s no secret that discourse online is at an all time high about the America’s Got Talent judges. Some feel it’s time for the panel to change, while others feel differently. Cameron Logsdon from Omaha, Nebraska poked fun at that conversation, with his unique impression act.
As his day job, Cameron is a public speaking professor, and he has always “wanted to do AGT.” Now that his son is college-aged, he’s able to branch out and explore his true dream.
“you all know that being a judge on this show is a highly coveted job, everybody wants to have it and in fact you are all so good at it,” he said. “I know you need breaks every once in a while…so what I have for you today is some resumes of celebrities that might be good judges on this show.”
The audience and judges were taken aback by this statement, but ultimately went along with it. As Simon Cowell listed the celebrities, Cameron began doing impressions of each of them.
His impressions featured Jason Statham, Mark Wahlberg, Jennifer Coolidge, Will Smith and more. He earned laughs from the audience and judging panel in his audition.
Judges Disagree on The Act
The first judge to give comments after the act was Sofia Vergara. The actress called the act “brilliant” and admitted he did a great job on the act. Differing in views was Mel B, who wished Cameron would’ve instead made the whole thing into a story.
Cowell joked saying that Mel B just didn’t want him in the act, while brushing off Mel B’s comments. Howie Mandel then commented on how funny Cameron was.
“I thought it was really original and a great idea actually,” Cowell said. “Because what Mel suggested I’ve seen a thousand times.”
Mel B then admitted that she really likes the normal routine of impressionists. To which Cowell disagreed saying doing something different “worked” for Cameron.
