Heidi Klum Couldn’t Wait To Hit The ‘AGT’ Golden Buzzer For This Singer

Judge Heidi Klum could barely contain her excitement over 15-year-old singer Makayla Phillips on Season 13 of AGT. She hit the Golden Buzzer for Makayla after her powerhouse performance of a Demi Lovato song.
Makayla went on to have an amazing journey, not only on America’s Got Talent, but also on another famous talent show. Check out her audition below, and read on to find out more about her.
Makayla Phillips Gets The ‘AGT’ Golden Buzzer
Makayla had plenty of support when she auditioned for AGT Season 13. Her mom, dad, and little brother were watching from off stage, while the rest of her family cheered her on from the audience.
The 15-year-old chose to perform Demi Lovato’s “Warrior.” She showed off a strong voice that clearly impressed the judges. “She’s amazing,” Mel B commented, as Heidi Klum gave her a standing ovation.

“So fun and good and everything. And you’re also cute on top of it,” Heidi told Makayla. “I love you. I think you are absolutely incredible. I love the whole package. I love your smile, I love how you project to everyone. Your voice is incredible.”
Heidi was so impressed, she hit the Golden Buzzer for Makayla before the other judges even had a chance to share their thoughts. Afterward, Simon Cowell said that if he shut his eyes, he wouldn’t think it was the same person singing.
Where Is Makayla Phillips Now?
Makayla didn’t make it past the semifinals of AGT Season 13, but she didn’t let that stop her from pursuing her dream. Earlier this year, she appeared on American Idol, and made it into the Top 11 for the season.

The singer is also connected to another famous AGT contestant — last year’s winner Kodi Lee! She’s posted videos with Kodi on social media, calling him her “bestie.” In 2018, he accompanied her to an AGT taping and sang for the audience. A year later, he’d be competing on the show himself, and eventually winning the million-dollar prize.
Now 18, Makayla posts song covers on her Instagram, and recently offered vocal lessons for singers who are serious about music.
