Gerard Piqué Disapproves of Shakira Dissing Him Through Song
Shakira and Piqué split last year after 11 years together, amid rumors that the former soccer player cheated. Recently, Shakira has expressed how she feels about the breakup through music. In her collaboration with Argentine DJ Bizarrap, she sings, “I’m too good for you and that’s why you’re with someone just like you.”
Piqué reportedly responded to Shakira’s lyrical digs in a new interview with Gerard Romero, saying, “The subject of throwing beef is all very well, it’s fashionable, but we don’t think about the consequences it can have on a mental level for the person they throw it at.”
“It works out very great for one person and it’s great, but we don’t think about the other person afterward,” Piqué continued. “What has to happen? Maybe someone commits suicide, and we say, ‘Oh, we’ve gone too far?’ I’m very disappointed with what society is.”
He also reportedly called out Shakira’s fans, saying, “You don’t know what I’ve received from people who are fans of hers.” Piqué added that he doesn’t “give a damn” and claimed the fans “don’t have a life.”

Piqué Is Being Accused of Gaslighting His Ex
Following Piqué’s latest comments about Shakira, the outlet BELatina has accused him of gaslighting, which is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person attempts to make someone else doubt their own reality.
“From the limited information the public is fed (there may be more to the story behind closed doors), Piqué is positioning himself and his new love interest, Clara Chia, as the victims of this entire situation,” BELatina argues. “Now, he’s claiming that this situation can be affecting Chia’s mental health. But does he not realize that infidelity can also be detrimental to people’s mental health?”
Last month, Piqué opened up about his current situation, saying, “I’m very happy. There have been changes in my life and I have known how to preserve happiness.”
