After appearing on Love Island and X Factor: Celebrity, Wes Nelson hastaken a dive into the music industry. Now celebrating huge success on a collection of singles, including ‘Nice To Meet Ya’, Nelson appeared on Lorraine to explain why he refused to sign a deal with Simon Cowell.
Wes Nelson Declines Simon Cowell’s Music Deal
Wes Nelson rose to fame musically on X Factor: Celebrity back in 2019, but is now making his own songs professionally. Nelson can now commonly be seen topping the UK music charts with popular pop tracks.
It seems longtime music and TV mogul, Simon Cowell may have predicted Nelson’s talent, offering the reality star a music deal shortly after he appeared on The X Factor.
First speaking to Guilty Pleasures, Nelson explained: “I was talking to Simon’s A&R. I didn’t feel ready to commit to anything. I didn’t know my sound, I wanted to go away and learn how to record myself and experiment.”

Again, on Lorraine this week, Nelson reconfirmed why he wasn’t ready for a music deal.
“You can see that instant attraction to it, but for me, I just wanted to find my sound, focus in on my skills and take some time out to really understand music,” he said.
Nelson’s Musical Success
Following the success of his previous hit single, ‘See Nobody’, Nelson is paving the way to a full-time music career with his latest song, ‘Nice To Meet Ya’.
Nelson’s first release, ‘Nobody’ made it to Number 3 in the charts, with over 70 million global streams.
Speaking to Celeb Mix, the TV personality said he wanted the single to make listeners ‘feel good about themselves’.
“I wanted people to sing ‘Nice To Meet Ya’ and just feel good about themselves, like 3 minutes of escapism! Especially with lockdowns we’re all feeling a bit trapped and people are down, I just want people to get up and feel good,” he said.
