Maria Aragon Got To Join Lady Gaga On Tour

Maria was just 10 years old when she found instant fame and visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She was born in Canada and began singing when she was three years old. She spoke about why she sang “Born This Way” in her viral cover. “Because of the meaning of the song. It has a great meaning. It’s about just being yourself because God made who you are and you’re no different than anybody else” she told Ellen DeGeneres.

Maria’s video even caught the attention of Lady Gaga herself. “Well it’s not every day you get to talk to a superstar or you get feedback from a superstar saying that you did great on the cover that’s her song,” Maria said. “We talked and she was actually having a bad day and I made her day, and it was really overwhelming.”

The Grammy-winning songstress invited Maria to sing with her during a concert in Toronto which made her nervous and excited at the same time. Before joining Lady Gaga on tour, Maria sang “Born This Way” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The audience went wild with applause after hearing her belt the song.

Less than a month after Maria’s appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she joined Lady Gaga at the Air Canada Centre to sing “Born This Way.” The pair sat at the piano during the duet and fans absolutely loved it. Maria flew to the Philippines in the summer of 2011 and signed a contract with Star Records.

Where Is She Now?

After finding major success from her “Born This Way” cover, Maria released her debut album. In 2018, she performed with one of the world’s biggest horse shows Cavalia Odysseo for three months. The role required her to learn how to speak Italian. She was a high school student at the time and had to find the balance between performing and doing schoolwork.

Recently, everything came full circle for Maria as she celebrated the 10 year anniversary of her “Born This Way” cover. She posted a new cover of the song that made her famous.

“10 years have passed since I posted a little video on the internet that changed my life. one Thursday morning in Feb 2011, I was woken up with news that @ladygaga had seen me singing her song ‘Born This Way’ on YouTube and shared it on her Twitter. That news felt like the beginning of everything” she wrote alongside the video.

Maria continues to upload popular song covers on her YouTube channel and on Instagram.
