It’s been over eight years since singer Grace VanderWaal won Season 11 of America’s Got Talent at age 12. Now, fans are rediscovering VanderWaal’s talent as she uploads performances to TikTok.
Fans Rediscover Grace VanderWaal on TikTok
Last week, VanderWaal posted a TikTok video in which she can be seen strumming a guitar and singing “We’re Going to Be Friends” by the White Stripes in a calming tone. The 20-year-old sports a short blonde hairstyle and thick-framed glasses.
Fans in the comments praised VanderWaal’s performance, as well as her appearance, with one commenter writing, “omg she grew up so elegantly.” Another wrote that her “voice has matured so beautifully,” while someone else marveled that she’s “so grown up.”
Another fan even wrote that they didn’t recognize VanderWaal when they first saw the video. Someone else joked that they “feel old” seeing how much VanderWaal has grown up since she competed on AGT back in the day.

What Has VanderWaal Been Up to Lately?
Since winning AGT in 2016, VanderWaal has released two EPs and one studio album. She’s also dipped her toes into the acting world, starring in the movie Stargirl and its sequel Hollywood Stargirl, as well as Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis.
Earlier this year, VanderWaal released the new singles “Call It What You Want” and “What’s Left of Me.” Fans can expect to hear more new music from her soon, as she signed with Pulse Records this year.
In September, VanderWaal told Variety that her second album will be “conceptual,” adding, “It’s definitely going to upset people and make people really uncomfortable. I’m talking about some pretty serious and heavy topics, which isn’t super mainstream sellable.”
