Dancing with the Stars Season 32 returned on Tuesday for Disney Night 2023, as the cast danced to Disney songs from the past 100 years. After a lively opening number from the DWTS pros, Xochitl Gomez topped the leaderboard with her Paso Doble. At the end of the night, Adrian Peterson was eliminated.

The highlight of Tuesday’s show came when Xochitl Gomez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy entered the ballroom to perform a sped-up Paso Doble to “Un Poco Loco” from the movie Coco. Judge Bruno Tonioli called it “magificent,” while Carrie Ann Inaba described it as “unbelievable.”

Xochitl and Val received three 9s from the panel, adding up to a 27 out of 30. That was the highest score of the night, two points above Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov with a score of 25 for their Contemporary routine to “Into the Unknown” from Frozen II.

Derek Hough called Ariana’s performance “sensational,” while Tonioli joked that there was “nothing frozen about that.” Meanwhile, Inaba said she wanted to see “a little bit more freedom” from their routine.

Jason Mraz and Charity Lawson also both impressed this week, scoring 24 out of 30. Jason and his partner Daniella Karagach danced a Foxtrot to “A Whole New World,” prompting Hough to quip that he was “a whole new Jason.” Charity ended the show with an elegant Waltz to “Part of Your World” with partner Artem Chigvintsev.

Adrian Peterson, Britt Stewart Eliminated

Adrian Peterson and his partner Britt Stewart earned a score of 21 out of 30 for their Waltz to “Baby Mine” from Dumbo. Inaba called it “the most touching dance of the night,” while Hough said it “really moved me.”

However, the judges’ opinion apparently didn’t match up with the viewers at home. At the end of the night, Adrian and Britt were announced as the eliminated couple. This might come as a shock to some, considering Mauricio Umansky, Alyson Hannigan, and Barry Williams all had lower scores than Adrian.

But remember that Adrian’s inclusion in the DWTS cast this season was met with some controversy due to his past child abuse charges. Like Jamie Lynn Spears earlier in the season, it’s possible that Adrian’s elimination was more about his personal life than his dancing skills.
