‘DWTS’ Pro Peta Murgatroyd Details Baby Rio’s Birth Story: “What a Wild Ride!”

Peta Murgatroyd has recently shared some details about the birth of her baby boy, Rio Chmerkovskiy. The Dancing With The Stars pro is clearly ecstatic and emotional in welcoming the new addition to their family.
Peta Murgatroyd Shares Video of Her Labor
In a video posted on Instagram, Murgatroyd let her followers see her childbirth journey with husband Maks Chmerkovskiy. According to the professional dancer, the experience wasn’t exactly simple.
“What a wild ride!!!” she wrote. “With a midnight car race into the hospital not knowing if @maksimc will make it or not, to the many hours of laboring down Mr Rio until he was in the perfect place to push him out with 4 pushes… …he’s here and he’s HEAVEN.”
Murgatroyd also took the time to express how thankful she is that Chmerkovskiy made it on time to the hospital. Apparently, her husband drove from Napa Valley, California to West Hollywood to be present at the important event.
In the same post, the DWTS pro also shared a moving moment where she asked her mom if she texted her late father. Amid her realization, Murgatroyd said she “welled up with tears.”
“It was a moment for me. I knew I felt his spirit there and I know he will be looking down and protecting all of us here,” she wrote.
The video began with Murgatroyd breathing heavily in the delivery room as she was holding onto the rails of her bed. The clip then showed the dancer holding her baby boy with a big smile on her face. The DWTS pro also shared cute snaps of her with her husband and newborn, Rio.
DWTS Family, Fans Welcome Baby Rio
In the comment section of Murgatroyd’s post, some DWTS cast members expressed their joy over Rio’s arrival. Touched by the post, emotional Witney Carson stated that she’s “crying.” Meanwhile, Emma Slater expressed how amazed she is with Murgatroyd’s labor experience.
“4 pushes WOW!!!! That’s really incredible, he was ready to come out!! Welcome to the world Rio!!!” she wrote.
On the other hand, several fans also reacted to her birth story. One follower particularly noticed Murgatroyd’s loving look at Chmerkovskiy in one clip.
“The way you look at your hubby before he cuts the cord….priceless, precious, and life changing,” one person wrote.
“I’m sure precious Rio had some time to hang out with grandpa before making his grand entrance into the world,” another user wrote.
Now, the Chmerkovskiy family consists of four members. Before baby Rio, the couple is already parents to their first born Shai.
