‘DWTS’ Pro Jenna Johnson Gets Real About Life as a First-Time Mom

During a recent Instagram Q&A session with her followers, Dancing With The Stars pro Jenna Johnson shared emotional advice to new mothers like her. Evidently, the dancer is trying her best to navigate motherhood with her newborn, Rome Valentin Chmerkovskiy.
Jenna Johnson Gives Encouraging Advice to First-Time Moms Amid Postpartum
Getting candid about her present struggles as a mother, Johnson stated that moms could only embrace all parts of the process. She posted these words along with a photo of herself and Rome in the hospital.
“This is the last time it will be your ‘first’,” she wrote. “There are so many beautiful moments in those first couple of weeks with your precious baby. Even during the sleepless/emotional day and nights, the mesh undies you have to change every couple of hours, the body that is yours but doesn’t feel like yours, and the outrageous hormones that make you question whether you’re capable of this new role.”
Johnson and her husband, Val Chmerkovskiy, welcomed Rome back in January 10. Currently, Johnson has been taking the time to deal with the changes in her body. To maintain her health to the maximum, the professional dancer makes sure keep her body moving through exercise.
In a mirror selfie she posted on her Instagram Stories, she was sitting cross-legged at the gym to work out. According to Johnson, she was confronted by multiple emotions during that day.
“And while at the gym I was confronted with many different emotions… -anxiety because I missed my baby -excitement cause my body has been craving movement,” she wrote. “Humility. Having to accept that I’m weak and feel as though I’m in a foreign body. slowly needing to rebuild my strength.”
The dancer concluded her post, stating that postpartum is a “trip.” Hence, she needs to remember that she should impose any heavy expectations on herself.
She Shares a Slideshow of Rome’s First Six Weeks
A week ago, Johnson shared a series of photos showing a baby update to her fans. She called the slideshow “Rome recap,” sharing adorable snaps of Rome’s milestones in a span of six weeks after he was born.
The first photo shows a group photo Chmerkovskiy boys, where Rome met his cousin Shai and his uncle Maks Chmerkovskiy. There’s also a snap that shows how Rome is being held by DWTS pro Lindsay Arnold while he was “milk drunk.”
Johnson’s baby has also met professional dancer Kiki Nyemchek. The rest of the snaps show Rome’s adorable solo photos and some with his mom and dad.
Since Rome came to Johnson and Chmerkovskiy’s lives, it’s not secret that the two have been overwhelmed. Nonetheless, despite “fear and pure exhaustion,” the couple is clearly doing what they can to be the best parents.
“My heart is forever his and my world is so much brighter with him in it,” Johnson wrote.
