Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba detailed a recent “medical emergency” she experienced on Instagram. The scary incident happened while Inaba was on a plane to New York.
Carrie Ann Inaba Suffers ‘Medical Emergency’ on Plane
On Thursday, Carrie Ann Inaba posted a video on Instagram which includes a clip from inside an ambulance, followed by a shot of her arm with a hospital bracelet on her wrist. As she wrote in the post’s caption, “Yesterday was quite a day.”
“I was on my way to NY for something I am very passionate about. But had a small ‘medical emergency’ on the plane,” Inaba wrote. “I very suddenly felt quite ill. And while it seemed like food poisoning, I also suddenly broke out into a cold sweat, got dizzy and my arms went numb.”
Inaba explained that, as she lives with an autoimmune disease, she travels “with a health tool kit and am prepared for the worst.” However, she added that this situation “scared me,” as the plane experienced turbulence while Inaba was in the restroom.
She wrote that “the flight attendants had been asked to sit in their seats as well,” adding, “I didn’t want to have anyone else put themselves at risk… but when my arms went numb, it was time to ask for help.

Inaba Gives an Update on Her Condition
Inaba’s Instagram post ended rather abruptly, without giving fans an update on her condition. However, she later followed up about the situation with USA Today, saying she was “resting up.”
“I was dizzy, nauseous, very warm and my arms started feeling numb,” Inaba said in a statement. “I received some assistance on the plane from the flight crew and a doctor onboard, which I am very thankful for, and went to the hospital upon landing, as well as received fluids.”
Inaba thanked the paramedics “who treated me with care and respect in a scary moment even when my blood pressure dropped.” After leaving the hospital, she said she continued receiving IV fluids in her hotel.
The DWTS judge suffers from Sjögren’s disease, but she said this health scare was not connected to it. However, she added that the experience “taught me the importance of listening to and trusting my body when something doesn’t feel right.”
